Web Counselling
KHL Web is a wonderful service for young people. It can be very scary going online for the first time but have no doubt you are NOT walking into a chat. Because of the amount of young Australians having issues, waiting for a web session can take quite a while though the average waiting time is about an hour. It is certainly worth the wait. When you first begin talking with a counsellor, you can wait for them to post something, it will often be something along the lines of...
Hi Cathy, I'm Lorie. Thanks for coming to KHL Web counselling today :)
You don't need to launch into some big paragraph about what is going on. If wanted, you need only say hi at first, ask how they are. If you want to make it a little bit easier for them, tell them you haven't been on web counselling before, tell them you aren't really sure what to do. They are nothing if not helpful.
After your first session, you may be asked to come back and talk again, your counsellor will explain how to connect with them again, just make sure you write down their name. If needed, your counsellor can do ongoing counselling with you and meet with you each week online. Every time you meet, your counsellor will be just as helpful. If they aren't going to be online when your next session is, they will tell you and tell you when they will be back.
These are people who genuinely care. They will remember last session, your name and things you told them about yourself. I thoroughly recommend this service.
